Ma-Ta-Way Activity Centre, Renfrew, Ontario… Cheryl Gallant, MP Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, was pleased to welcome Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz as the guest speaker at the Annual Meeting of the Conservative Riding Association for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke.
“Agricultural producers in Renfrew County are fortunate to have a Conservative government in Ottawa that actually cares about farmers and rural Canada. When I asked Minister Ritz whether he would be available to come to Renfrew County, he was very pleased to accept my invitation,” stated Cheryl Gallant, MP. “The Conservative rural caucus makes absolutely sure that a safe, reliable food supply continues to be a priority for our government.”
“The point was well-made at the meeting that if one relied solely on the headlines in the national newspapers and what was being repeated by some pundits on television and other mass media, one would have a very narrow view of what has been accomplished in Ottawa, when it fact a great deal has been accomplished, thanks to Ministers like Gerry Ritz and the excellent job they do on behalf of all Canadians, remarked MP Gallant.
“It is a fact, that of all the industrialized countries in the world, Canada is number one when it comes to economic performance. That performance is a result of having a steady hand at the wheel, to guide Canada through the most severe economic downturn since the last great depression,” observed Cheryl Gallant, MP. “And our party will continue to provide what only Conservatives are capable of, sound economic leadership.”
Federal Minister Of Agriculture Gerry Ritz grew up on a family farm near Rosetown, Saskatchewan, and that heritage has driven him to make sure the Canadian agriculture industry remains innovative and competitive. Over the past year he has travelled to Asia, South and Central America, Africa and the Middle East to open markets and increase trade, ensuring that Canadian farmers can boost their bottom line by selling more of their products to more consumers around the world. The success and sustainability of farmers is a paramount goal behind every agriculture policy decision.
“In Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, we continue to face challenges, in farming, forestry, the energy sector and our mission to Afghanistan. I am confident we are up to the challenges. I know I certainly am as is Minister of Agriculture Gerry Ritz,” concluded MP Gallant.
