MP Gallant Announces Funding for Petawawa Settler Festival Days

, – Cheryl Gallant, Conservative Member of Parliament, Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, is pleased to announce funding for the Petawawa Settler Festival Days celebrating the local arts and heritage of  Petawawa.

 “Our Conservative Government is proud to support the Petawawa Heritage Society,” said MP Cheryl Gallant. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.”

“It is my distinct pleasure to congratulate Petawawa Heritage Society President Ann McIntyre  and the many local volunteers that make up the organization for all their hard work in presenting the festival,” remarked Cheryl Gallant, MP. “This is the 2nd year of this event. An excellent line-up of interactive activities has been planned. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this glimpse into the past of our local area.”

The Petawawa Heritage Society has received funding of  $4,500 to help present its Petawawa Settler Festival Days, which will take place from August 9th to 15th,  2010.

The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
